Jamboree on the Air - With the support of Furness Amateur Radio
Barrow Scout District, with the assistance of Furness Amateur Radio Society, will be participating in the 50th Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) from St. Perran's Scout Hut, Yarlside Road, Barrow over the weekend of 20/21 October 2007.
With it being the 50th aniversary of JOTA and 100 years of Scouting, OFCOM have granted the use of Special Event callsign GB50FSA for the duration of the event. Activites this year will hopefully include passing a greetings message to another Scout possibly on the other side of the world via amateur radio, powering a torch using fruit and veg only (a good one when you're asked for spare torch batteries at the next camp), a helmet mounted video camera, electronic projects, quizes and a competition. We are also hoping to take part in the Jamboree On The Internet, subject to getting an internet connection from the Scout hut.
If you are interested in attending or want more information then please contact I Harrop, Barrow Scouts on JOTA@BarrowScouts.org.uk
